Celebrating the birth of Lord Ram at Mount Dios International School
On Nov 16, our principal Ms. G Mala visited DPS Nacharam to attend the Cambridge Community Meeting. Please look at a glimpse of “A Confluence of Future Minds.” The conference was a helpful take on how to take the Cambridge education to new levels of execution and meticulous implementation of CEM data along with a translation of the Cambridge’s ambitious vision.
On Tuesday, May 10, we had our first, in our series of Ask Me Anything. The topic was regarding any queries about Cambridge. It was held by the Principal Dr. Ratna Lekha Shetty. Mount Dios International School intends to have many sessions like this. Though it was a stormy afternoon, parents came and made the event a resounding success. There were so many pertinent questions asked and it was a pleasure answering all of them. Parents asked questions about what Cambridge was, how the curriculum is framed and delivered, the scope of a Cambridge Education in our country and abroad, and so much more.
“I personally feel that the parents of Vishakapatnam are very education oriented and want to know about the various education boards available. I look forward to many more sessions like this.”
Let this summer be different. Vibe at a different level. Come, enjoy with your family and friends on this virtual platform!
Sing and shake a leg along, cook up some great dishes, see some magic wide-eyed, learn the moves of the pieces on a checker board- and many more!
On this pandemic let staying at home not dampen our spirits. There is so much to explore and experience beyond classrooms. Pass on the good word to your friends and cousins! Everyone is welcome!
Let us welcome an interesting extension of summer!
On February 20, the DPS students celebrated the World Day of Social Justice by doing activities to celebrate human differences. The diversity activities taught young children to respect and celebrate the differences in all people. Learning about different cultural aspects offered a new experience for children.
It helped them realize that we’re all humans, despite differences in how we look or dress, or what we eat or celebrate.
Teachers tried to introduce all types of differences with various activities.
On 21st February DPS celebrated International Mother Language Day to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism.
Students were asked to introduce themselves in their mother language and sent videos.
“We have to make kindness the norm, not the exception.” To instil this thought in the students, teachers of DPS celebrated Random Acts of Kindness day on February 17, 2021.
The teachers discussed with the students how they could make others happy, by expressing it in words and without expecting anything in return.
Some of the ideas that students suggested were:-
To compliment someone.
Call a family member who you haven’t spoken for a while.
Make someone smile…
The students celebrated this day by expressing kindness through words only.
They proved the words “Kindness is a gift that everyone can afford to give”, right.
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious… the students depicted the image in their mind by decorating doors on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.
Every year 14th February is celebrated to send wishes to their loved ones. This year the students decorated the doors to show their love for their parents and grandparents.
The vibrant colours and out of the box ideas used by the students of DPS, were a treat to the eye!
A day to encourage out of the box thinking and invent something. The day of February 11, every year is celebrated to encourage children to be curious about the world around them and to be creative while solving problems.
The teachers of DPS conducted an online quiz competition to inspire them to become inventors. The students participated and were surprised to know about some inventions, that they had never heard about.
They could also relate to the proverb “Necessity is the mother of Invention”, after listening to some additional information given by the teachers.
Everyone loves and appreciates their friends. In the last few months because of the pandemic many students could not meet their friends. On the occasion of the National send a card to a friend day the students took the opportunity to appreciate their friends with cards and E-cards.
A small gesture that they couldn’t imagine made a difference and brought smiles. Some of the students drew beautiful pictures of their friends to depict their friendship.
World Cancer Day unites the world’s population in the fight against cancer. The teachers took an awareness session where the importance of the day was told to the students. A healthy behaviour amongst the children, staff, parents, families and the community with good nutrition and physical activity were discussed.
A cross curricular project to raise awareness about cancer to prevent cancer was discussed. The students were alarmed to know that 17 people die every minute from cancer in the world. Every year the World Cancer Day is celebrated with a theme. Students were made aware of the themes and the purpose behind them.
“Youth is the best time. The way in which you utilize this period will decide the nature of coming years that lie ahead of you.” These were the words of Swami Vivekananda who was born on January 12,1863.
He was a spiritual leader and social reformer. His lectures, writings, letters, poems, ideas motivated not only the youth of India but also the whole world.
“Swami Vivekananda accorded great importance to youth power towards nation-building and universal brotherhood. Swami Ji considered education to be a continuous process in which all aspects of life, such as physical, intellectual, emotional, moral and spiritual should be imbibed. His contribution to the creation of a new modern India is incredible”.
On this day, the country’s youth is expected to rise to the values, principles and beliefs that the great monk lived by. The main objective is to promote rational thinking among the youth, believed to be the future of the country. It expected the youth to fight for the right and channel their inner energies, just like Swami Vivekananda would have.
Let us all salute to the “Great Indian Youth Icon”

December 8, 2020 was celebrated as Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day. On this day of imagination and time-hopping celebration the students pretended that they could move across the years and go wherever they wanted to. While travelling back in time, the students drew miles of maps. They made drawings of roadside attractions that they wanted to see on the trip, while traveling back in time. Later they made sign boards to denote the significance to the Time Traveler Journey. It was a wonderful experience visiting and experiencing the past.
It was the night before Christmas. The stockings were hung by the chimney. When out in the lawn there arose a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what’s the matter? When my wondering eyes did appear, a miniature sleigh and eight tiny rein-deer. With a little old driver so lively and quick, I knew in a moment he must be St. Nick….
He took me along with him to the 3rd century…. On the occasion of the Time Traveler Day, I am going back in time.
December 8, 2020 is Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day.
Where would you like to travel? In the past or the future? What would you like to see? Get into a character and walk in the shoes of someone else. While doing so…..

Let us all salute to the “Great Indian Youth Icon”
Happy Trivia-ing
January 4, is celebrated as the National Trivia Day. It is about bits of information and data that are of little value. If you enjoy wowing your friends with interesting stats and frivolous facts, today is your day to shine!
Christmas is an exciting time of year that promises an extra burst of food and time with friends and family.
To keep the spirit of the season, everyone were dressed in red and white!
Here are thee actives planned by the school this year:
- Scavenger Hunt
- Gift wrapping
- Christmas tree and Snowman
- Baking a cake online along with the teachers without the use of gas or fire
